Alice madness returns NOT LAUNCHING (Steam)
I've been trying to open Alice madness resturns for a while now, my antivirus isn't the problem. I've tried to follow a tutorial, which consisted in changing a part of the files of the game, but it didn't work. I tried to verify the integrity of the files and it didn't give me an error. I don't know what else can I do. And when I try to search for Alice in the EA support, they simply don't have it, which means I can't contact the goddamn people who had a part in this game. Also, when the game fails to open, there is no error screen or pop-up, it just doesn't open, no explanation at all. I've also reinstalled it, but nothing changed. The only error I get is when I try to run Alice as an administrator.

Thanks for sharing the screenshot. The error indicates that XAPOFX1_4.dll is missing. This is part of a legacy DirectX component required by some older games, including Alice: Madness Returns.
Please download and install the official DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010) package from Microsoft. After downloading:
- Run the file and extract its contents into a new temporary folder.
- Open that folder and run DXSETUP.exe as administrator.
- Once the installation is complete, restart your computer and try launching the game again.
Please avoid downloading the missing DLL individually from third-party websites.
Since you previously changed some of the game’s files, I’d also recommend removing those changes. If the DirectX installation does not resolve it, uninstall the game, delete any files left inside the Alice: Madness Returns installation folder, reinstall it, and verify the files again through Steam > Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files.
