I have the same problem with the useless, never-loading EA chat window and software not appearing on spore.com or Origin. The only fix for spore.com not recognizing C&C is EA Support. Now, *try* to convince THEM of that.... ARG!
Lacking viable text chat I finally had to get them to phone me and, after much haranguing, got them to fix Spore not appearing in Origin, but I'm still waiting for GA to appear on spore.com or allow GA item uploading. Which is gonna be *another* long ridiculous phone call....
The most likely problem with items not appearing is the install order of your game. Unfortunately I haven't found a fix besides re-install.
You have to install in the following order or problems with missing items or animations occur:
Spore > C&C (1.2) > GA (1.4) > 1.5 Patch > 1.6 Bot Parts (Dr. Pepper patch) (on a side note: I had to reinstall C&C again *after* all this before I got *all* C&C parts to appear)
Be *sure* to backup your game data files before re-installing. I didn't realize there were more folders to backup than just the 'My Spore Creations' folder in 'My Documents' and I think my saves got corrupted by reinstalling. Hope I help save you from that horror.
