The end of the story...wtf is this?

Yeah, contains spoilers for the story....beware beware!

So the game is just...meh....it's just average. And the story has many many flaws. The faceless Number 22 you can't get a connection to because Number 22 has no name, gender and voice. By deciding to just call the Player Number 22 so noone feels excluded, you excluded everyone. Even Seneca just call this abomination "Number 22". Then we have the huge amount of stereotypes, the poor technical presentation of the scenes (even the stupid 2015 NfS looked better in the video scenes). And of course we have the story which makes your actions pointless. We can win every race but as the story isn't dynamic, we are still the team that is close to lose everything because the story said so. We as Number 22 can win every race but still we are the Newbie that has problems to get points.

And most important: in the last chapter we have to win the race. We win the race, we are winning the Gauntlet andf the championship for Seneca and then Seneca kicks us out of the team to replace us with Ravenwests second driver? WHAT THE *??? Why were we kicked out of the team after saving this team? After winning every * race for them? After giving everything for the team once Yume was injured? We and the mechanic were kicked out of the team and starting again in Amateur League with Valentin Manzie as second driver? WHY? If i were Number 22 (and i have to mention it again: i don't feel any connection to Number 22 because this person lacks any personality), i would join Ravenwest and Nathan McKane, when Seneca kicks me out of ther team? Why would i ever start again in Amateur League? This absolutely makes no sense and ruins everything we have achieved in the story mode.

The Epilogue just ruined the whole story mode and the whole game for me. Yeah, we can now start the career mode with Mr. Mechanic and Mr. Manzie but i dont want Mr. Manzi as teammate! The career mode is so very poorly presented. Grid Legends repeats the failures of F1 2021. It sacrifices the game for a one time story mode. If i at least would be able to change my team mate. But not...story made it, that Mr. indian mechanic and Valentin Manzie joins Number 22 in Amateur League. Even if it makes no * sense and ruins everything we achieved in the story mode. 😠

  • I honestly liked the ending, it links the ending of the story mode and the start of career mode very well together. For the record, I don’t remember number 22 and Ajeet being kicked out of Seneca, I thought they decided to start up their new team. Which makes sense since in career mode you can choose your own team name. 😏

Take it for what it is IMO and don’t take it so seriously. There are worse things happening in the world right now than some racing game not having a story that makes all the sense in the world to you.

I personally really like this game, it’s a massive improvement over GRID 2019 and is up there together with Dirt Rally 2.0 as Codemaster’s finest modern racing games IMO. Note that I haven’t played any of the F1 games but I found Dirt 5 rather disappointing.

GRID Legends gets a very solid 9/10 for me. I liked the story (finished it) and I’m now working on career. What makes GRID so special for me (compared to other racing games) are the various city tracks. No other modern racing games includes these. I also like those real world tracks that aren’t common in other racing games like Sydney Motorsport Park and Zehjiang. Other than that, the graphics are a nice step up from GRID 2019 as well on my Xbox Series X.

I’m also looking forward to GT7 next week but I’m enjoying GRID Legends far more than I expected to be. And that’s a sentiment I’ve seen mentioned by other players as well.

  • My problem with the Story mode is that Tanaka (Your team mate AKA team leader) is being overpraised throughout the game...

You save your team`s butt multiple times, only for her to outshine you.

She disappears half way through and returns as a para-driver with a prosthetic leg to show how powerful she is...

I get the message but seriously tho... Number 22 is truly treated like a number 2, if you know what I mean...
