In that thread, one of the top Arcade player I've seen deleted the game. And another has been complaining since back then putting is broken and for good reasons. Arcade is totally broken and so far away from the old Amateur mode in the TW series. Only Sim players think putting must be very difficult for EVERYBODY because you know... SIM.  Putts must be going in only once in a while for EVERYBODY.  Damn EVERYBODY else. I'm still surprised DONTMAKEMEPUTT is still here trying to make the best of this game.

I'm not sure why it has become an us against them debate. Like I said I think everyone would like to see putts that catch an edge would lip out. Rather than having the ball go in or not.

As far as the sim players... If I was going to speak for them... all they want is some additional choices for green speeds. Having faster greens would easily make the game more challenging for those who needed it. And for everyone else they can just use the default settings.

But the hole physics have always been broken, it's just even worse now. EA is the ones you need to complain about not those advocating to make the game better.

Going back to memory lane, I read a bug report that was a catalyst for the Notorious Update 3. There was a mention of updating the cup physics. However, there was no mention of allowing other players using default settings. That change was forced on players who did not want it.

The bug report is shown below.

What happens when the bug occurs? The ball goes in the hole.

What do you expect to see? The ball would roll over the hole like it was not there.

OMG, OMG, OMG!  It was him or her all along for that stupid update. Simmer breaking the game worse than it was as usual.

So you think it is realistic to hit a putt from a foot with 25 feet of speed and expect it to go in?

EA is the one who implemented the change... people just point out the shortcomings. EA decides what they want to change, and how they implement it.

Obviously even EA believed it was an issue otherwise they wouldn't have done it. The issue is they did a poor job of fixing it.

The Notorious Update 3 permanently messed up Arcade Mode in PGA Tour. In a similar situation, NBA 2K24 had a group of Simmers who made a request to make shooting harder; it temporarily messed the game up because Steph Curry shot the ball like me instead at Brick City. The backlash from Arcaders were strong and the shooting got reverted to default by next update. The total time to fix is one month. For current PGA Tour game, the mess occurred in June and it never got fixed. Just wish the response of change is swift as in NBA 2K24. But the revenue of current game is what held it back.

  • Ok. So the image I posted was a 4 ft tap in. 0.1 above. The ball literally sat on top of the center of the cup. The animation showed it. Then it switched to a tap in. My particular shot was not from 25 feet. Every putt is not a lip out in real life. I have to agree that after an update, and I can’t  remember which one, people are saying 3, every close putt became a lip out. Or began ricocheting off the cup. Or “toilet” ring the cup. Or hanging up in front of the cup. Or confusingly and mysteriously floating in the center of the cup and leaving a tap in.
