Re: On-Line Match Play

Is it limited to 9 for private matches?   or is it just for the randomly matched online portion?

If it's just the random matched part, its not a big deal.  If it's also limited to 9 for a private match, that's unfortunate....

In the video posted for Patch Update 5.0, they said on-line match play will be limited to 9 holes.  They said they have the ability to turn on 18 holes matches on line in the future, but release 5.0 will be limited to 9 hole matches.  I also believe 5.0 will limit which courses you can play with on-line match play.

I'm hoping this is specific for online matches. We should be able to set the environment for our own Private Matches. Though to be honest we currently don't have thst option either... we are regulated to the presets they have provided, unlike 2K who allows us to toggle on or off whichever features we want.

2K had a lot of issues with turn based play also. It was a mess for a good while before they sorted it out. Despite all the wailing and gnashing of teeth about EA, it seems to me they are being responsive and are working steadily on improvements. Don’t forget how many iterations of TW Golf went through before they got the lobby system. By then, though, they had exhausted the game engine capabilities, which is why the move to Frostbite.

    Have patience, grasshopper(s)!

Takes way to long to play match play on line.  1/2 hr for 9 holes.   Anyway to speed up play?

@3cee52bd3f71c2e1I have been playing "The Golf Club" games since they released. The only issues I ever had were with their poor servers.

I never believed that it was software related.

And 2K23 PGA is built on the Unity Engine. As far as I know this franchise has always used this.

And be fair EA has been building golf games since 1990... and yes they took an 8 year hiatus, but expectations would be that the game would have at a minimum the same stable of features as their last release in 2015.

Unfortunately it is not even close. Though this game does have some charm, it feels like a lot of seperate components cobbled together... an incomplete piece of work.

Frustratingly inconsistent in how things in the game are pieced together.

I have a soft spot for the game, but it is a long way from being what it should be.

  • I’m actually happy they finally added this… I’ve been waiting from the start for it . It does take a little longer, but that’s not a surprise considering we get to watch each other’s shots. Also, matchplay is a good idea to speed things up but I wish they’d add turn based stroke play too .  I think this is a step in the right direction

I just played a round of Matchplay tonight... I actually like the view in turn base better than the one I use to hit the ball.

I do like that they took all the windows away, leaving only the score on the screen. I would love if we had the option to do the same in the regular playing mode.

Of course it extended the game time a bit... but it's about the journey not the destination.
