Re: sim mode green grid

I also disagree with the statement. From what I last heard, this is still EA PGA Tour...not PGA Jam, not PGA Street, not PGA Tricky. PGA Tour has always been know as a golf simulation game. Excluding SIM players is plain wrong. If you wanted a Full Blast Arcade Game, it would have been better to advocate for an new arcade golf game with a different title like PGA Tricky. Even if a full on arcade game is advocated for, having 5 or more difficulty settings could still be inclusive to SIM players.

@PalomaMarvel24 a "simulation" would be, go to your local golf course, hit a ball into the screen, if they have one, and if they don't, go find one
    this... is a video game....

    From EA's website:

    Premier Golf Gameplay:

Powered by official PGA TOUR ShotLink® and TrackMan data, Pure Strike provides unique golf swings with a fluid feel, and realistic outcomes on every golf shot.

    Shot Types:

The 20 different Shot Types in EA SPORTS PGA TOUR give golfers all the tools to attack every hole like a pro.

    Course Dynamics:

Lifelike Course Dynamics ensure no two golf courses play the same. Every fairway, green, and rough is meticulously scanned, handcrafted, and uniquely tuned to simulate the individual nuances of different courses and terrain variables like undulations, ground cover, and grass type.

    Ball Behavior:

Innovative Ball Behavior has been redesigned from the ground up. New technology allows every golf ball bounce and roll to behave more accurately across a greater variety of terrain and course conditions.

It sounds to me like this was supposed to be a simulation and not an arcade game. A simulation doesn't mean you actually have to have a club in your hands.

  • I would be for adding choices, not eliminating choices.  I played some sim match play this weekend and actually enjoyed it more than I thought I would.  Having said that, I still prefer regular tour mode match play.  It would be nice to have the choice up for both at same time.

I am fully for this... but I should have the option to turn off some of the features in private mode. WHY, is there a swing meter in SIM mode settings? I would basically remove all the aids in that mode. Is SIM is going to be the hardest mode, then everything possible should be disabled.

Looking at what EA has done, they really need to rebalance the settings for difficulty. What they have done is make people think they are better than they are.

In my opinion, PRO should require some skill to play. TOUR mode should be for advanced players. And SIM for elite players or those willing to except shooting some realistic scores. I would expect to shoot what I do in real life playing on SIM settings. May a few shots better because I can execute some better shots in the game.

They have always done that as I remember, that everybody should be able to hit like Tiger and progress to the top difficulty level. TW14 was the exception with this diagonal swing that even most sim players I know hated.

I know I hate it. It's not that difficult to execute once you understand how it works... but to honest you can workaround it still using a regular swing. You just need to realize doing so just means the movement of the ball is opposite what you expect.

The reason I hate it is because it goes against what you would do in real life. You don't change your swing when working a golf ball, you change your setup. Or at least that is how I have always done it.

This diagonal swing idea is just gimmicky... which explains the lack of understanding the game designer has about the game.

I agree it is a video game. I am by no means a SIM Player. I am an Arcade Player who turns out to be a 3-Clicker, and I feel left out of the game. My response is about including demographics. I don't advocate for excluding any demographics in the game because I know how it dam feels to be left out.

Well we won't be able to complain about EA's game for that anymore, this guy is now working as Lead Game Designer for the 2K game.
