Re: update

Last year, this game might not have seen the light of day, and be cancelled like Star Wars FPS. And if it did see the light of day, we would have been fortunate to see 6 updates. This game was cancelled, like others, because of lack of sales just like EA Rory 10 years ago.

And I don't think a 6 months delay would have made much difference either.  This randomness, including its effect with the wind, is all the concept of the lead designer, which is very similar to EA Tiger Woods 11. The difference is that in TW11, we could level our golfers to a point the circle was minuscule.

@Katybee_1313 that 6-month delay could've been used to iron out the game more. who knows what would've been had that happened....

It would also meant 6 months less of support. It was going to be cancelled nevertheless by the CEO due to poor sales.

@Katybee_1313 you can't say that. a potential 6 month wait could've kept this game going. who knows, maybe even more "sales" from the start due to a more polished game.

We know because of the communique by the CEO when he layoff almost 700 employees. From now on, he was only making games with massive community of millions of users. This was never going to be golf when 2K is also making a golf game.

And I saw an article when I was researching more info about this game that EA College Football became the best selling sports video game of all time in the US,  surpassing NBA 2k21.  Of course, both of these games have no competition, 2K is not doing a football game and EA is no longer doing an NBA game.

All your doing is speculating. Anything is possible had this game been better polished. I'm putting out what I think, and I think this game would've done better had -EA- waited, I think this game was rushed out. You never know what would've happen with the -EA- staffers....

As a live service game, it has no expansion packs like The Sims and it has no ultimate teams like the other sports games.  The only source of revenue were the premium pro pass very few users were willing to pay for. It was only a matter of time the game was going to be shutdown.

One of the Playstation Plus game of the month is Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. The game is only one year old and it's already shutting down its update. They just introduce the game to be played offline.  That's the biggest problem with those live service game. Most of them don't last long. they run out of money.

The Sims is the best live service game I played. I remembered having an expansion pack that introduced a precursor to game face back in 2006.

Another good example of a live service game was Star Wars Battlefront 2. There were updates for 3 years until the Rise of Skywalker got released.

If the simmers paradise never happened, EA PGA Tour actually could have become a better live service game. Unfortunately the game could probably be renamed “The Simmers”.

@PalomaMarvel24 There was a new Star Wars FPS in the work, and EA cancelled it.  In the communique, he's getting out of all those expensive licensed IP.  It sure looks like he couldn't wait to get out of all the exclusive rights for the Open, US Open and PGA Championship, they're all in the new 2K game. I guess it's no surprise, it looks like FIFA wanted $1 billion as license fee,  EA told them to pound sand.

It looks like a golf video game will be getting a major update on February 28, 2025…Drum Roll…The Release Date for PGA Tour 2K25. Finally the Open, US Open and PGA Championship has come to 2K. The exclusive rights for the Master will most likely follow in a future update or in PGA Tour 2K27. I am already looking forward.

I thought you were exaggerating about $1 billion, it's even worse. It was 1 billion for only 4 years.  How many copies EA would have to sell just to break even, that's crazy.

There's the update, with the other dead or cancelled games like Dead Space and the old FIFA. And they called that franchise discussion. 🙄
