Why is only +3 allowed at most on any hole?

If I am playing in career mode, which I am, then there should not be the insane situation where I make a real mess of a hole, but as soon as I hit +3 it's 'pick it up & move on' when that would get me disqualified in the PGA Tour.
In truth, it should easily be possible to go way more than 3 over - I can name names (Jordan Speith @ Augusta 12th, Francesco Molinari - same hole) so why is there a stupid +3 cap?
