Advertise automatically checked!

Warning to those doing trades.  The latest update that came out today will automatically check the advertise.  If you're doing trades you may want to uncheck advertise.

A note to EA:  If it's not broke don't fix it.  I personally don't like advertise to be automatically checked because of doing trades with others.  Now it's a nuisance to have to uncheck it.  It's been out for over a year and was just fine the way it was.

Although, those who want to sell and advertise all the time might think differently. 🙂

This is truly unbelievable!!!! Absurd and outrages!!! Is EA trying to alienate all its long-time players. What a DUMB idea! The reason why it was decided by the game makers themselves to leave advertising unchecked originally is because it makes logical sense. There are many reasons why I may not want to advertise immediately but the most OBVIOUSLY reason is that since I'm able to connect to friends I may wish to trade with a particular friend or group of friends at preferred rates and NOT put ALL my trade on the global market. Putting advertising checked by default is big huge giant misstep and goes well beyond an irritation. It's not how I and I suspect MANY others play. This changes (ruins!) the game for me. And it was unsolicited. I did not come across a groundswell of requests for this. Please fix  immediately!!!

I thought I had adapted well, but I lost my first unintended sale today. It's hard for the trading partner to accept that they'll have to wait a couple hours until you have another 5 fire pits again.

It's ironic that EA pretty much hearded everyone towards private trading with their original design, and now are needing to change things to populate the gthq full of items (both quantity and variety). I haven't used the public gthq in 6 or 7 months.

Maybe that's part of the problem.  More and more people going to private trades?

Actually no, I'm full of it.  The amount of people doing private trades is insignificant to the overall playing population.  Shoot, there's only a small handful participating on this board and even the best facebook group is only 6500 players strong.  With over a million players, those doing private trades aren't the bulk of the players, so if they advertise or not is really irrelevant.

Sorry, that was more of a thinking out loud moment.  I stand by my original assessment.  Automatic advertise check is a bad idea for those doing private trades.

Well, with this feature implemented the market doesn't feel much better or just significantly different from what it was before, at least not yet. What would you say? There have been moment of infuriating losses to this auto-check, but I do not see bigger variety of items or prices over all.

Items are being advertised even if you uncheck the box. It's happened to me several times.

You know, I can't help but feel the same ... I could SWEAR I unchecked it ... but when I look, that stupid blue icon is there.

"Aw *!  There goes my private trade.  My trading partners are NOT going to be happy!"

As I've stated before, it's a simply process to check the box.  You can do that anytime, no harm, no foul, minimal delay.

But if you forget to UNCHECK that thing ... bye-bye your entire trade depo.  Offensive programming (many valid definitions here) at it's best.

Apparently nobody is f#%^%*!#g listening at EA. This change was not superficial or cosmetic or an enhancement for the simcity playing public. It was done with the simple nefarious intention of creating one more obstacle to ultimately push you into into doing the ONLY thing that EA cares about... spending real money to buy fake money to fix an imaginary problem.

Finally the rest of us can play with items that were always gone when we got there. I like the new global trade system as my items are gone as soon as posted instead of waiting days for Daniel to pick them up. I too have been playing for over a year. Did not lose my city when changing tablets but like the new system of trade.

To those who are SURE they unchecked advertise, there is a bug (that's what the support email specified) where it may still end up checked even if you uncheck it.

Their advice?  Try to avoid dragging, double-tapping, when you put items in the trade depot.

Apparently, internally, it thinks it's still checked even though the UI shows it unchecked.

They said they are "fixing it".
