11 years agoAn open letter to EA
Dear Electronic Arts, You have recently released an amazing game, Simcity Buildit, that has an incredible built in feature. I wanted to personally take the time to thank you for this, as it is clea...
Like most games I have played buying the commonly earned currency with real money is not where they expect most people will pay money it is the "premium" content that is where they earn their revenue from. In this game the commonly earned currency is simoleons and that is what I believe the OP is talking about. As there are some games that make even that scarce so that people will have to spend money simply to play the game at a semi-reasonable pace. Where I believe EA expects to make money in the game is from the "SimCash" the thing that looks like a dollar bill. There are all sorts of really nice looking items in the game that you need that to get. And with that you will have two groups of people those willing to spend money to get them fast and those willing to wait for them and get them from their relatively slower earnings of them from in game play. This model actually is on of the better cash shop models because those who truely feel it worth spending money on the game will and those who don't want to spend much or anything at all can without feeling too left out of content. What I take from reading the post is that willsogle is indeed thanking EA for having a consumer friendly income model in the game.
