Not specifically replying to you but rather all that have posted or read this column.
I started this thread the day of, or the day after the release of this new war feature. The results of the discussions here show one thing: that EA made a huge mistake at trying to incorporate war into a game where the ideal is just the opposite. Probably done out of "peer pressure" from other companies that have developed competing mobile games like "Mobile Strike, Call of Duty" ect.
Quite simply EA cannot stand the completion. Since the early 1990's EA has spent BILLIONS of dollars buying up its competition in order to gain that corporate edge. They dropped the ball, again. Instead of coming out with a totally different NEW game they tainted a platform that was already in place and profitable. Why reinvent the wheel?
You reinvent the wheel because the two ideals of urban development/city planning and war are on different sides of the spectrum. At least where I live, the community does not declare war on itself or go to war against my neighbors just to say we are winners and to get that "top prize".
Just the "cowboy" mentality we should be trying to rid ourselves of. But yet here we are now at a personal level (mobile devices) trying to drive this ideal down deep into our social fabric.
For those of you that do not know: The original SimCity game was authored by Will Wright back in the late 1980's. Some of you "older" gamers like me will remember this. And incidentally Maxis was also swallowed up by EA, just to gain that corporate edge.
The following is a quote taken from an article about Mr. Wright. "Will Wright cultivated a real love of the intricacies and theories of urban planning". End of quote. That is where the attraction is; self gratification of building a successful city where happiness is based on Sim approval that reflect a players decision making process. Will Wright’s inspiration to develop this game was brilliant.
Fast forward time in to today and now our "self gratification" our "success" can be taken down by another gamer in the name of a, what? war and a top prize? Please how low can you go.
This thing called war - just evilness.... ask our soldiers coming home from war if they think its so glamorous. At home recent tragedies at Los Vegas and Texas, in all due respect the innocent people there did not want this. My thought's and prayers go out the people affected by these senseless acts of "war".
It seems to me we should be doing the opposite: driving a theme of love and brotherhood down into ourselves and our children, into our social fabric. Haven't we had enough of this fighting and killing?

A correction and an issue that EA did not think about....
In the third paragraph "completion" should obviously be - competition.
And another twist to this problem:
A couple of members in our Mayor's Club are now starting to get testy with us. They cannot initiate a war and are starting to "lobby" us into thinking this is a good thing. The leaders of our club, including myself do not want to participate in this war nonsense.
Up until this release we all got along just great. Helping each other with upgrading our cities, the COM and the Mayors' challenge. Working together on many things. We are good - gaming friends. So good that most of the time when we trade we charge the least amount for an item that we can.
This is causing animosity between us. I have personally left a chat message asking them to not let this issue get between us. We should be mature enough to see through this. But for now; are they thinking they want to leave our club because they want to "go to war"? After being together for so long and accomplishing so much together?
Thanks EA, if you had not introduced this - our friendship would go on without question,

Completely agree with you sm-t701.Vast majority of players don’t want this pointless war feature but unfortunately EA have other ideas.Great news now we have a war leaderboard ...what a fantastic achievement.
If you ever wonder how to destroy a game with one update ..well ..is very simple ..ask EA
By the way if you looking for a true city build game ,may I suggest Cities Skylines
...and EA ,if you forgotten how to develop a city game look at Colossal Order ..small company from Finland with 17 employees that make you look like complete amateurs on the market that you should dominate..
Nothing more to say really .....

Really sm-t701? An AT-AT Imperial Walker? For someone who claims to have started this thread (looks to me like the Community Manager started it, but what do I know) because war has ruined the beautiful pacifist game... it's a really curious choice of avatar. Perhaps you'll say you didn't choose it, but we don't see you rushing to change it either... Very curious.
And ronin: isn't that a word for a wandering samurai warrior? A rather intensive look your avatar has. Are you sure you are anti-war?
I'm quite curious how you back up your assertion that the "vast majority" of players don't want this pointless war feature? This presumes many things: it presumes you know how many people play the game, it presumes of those people you know how many don't want the war feature, and it presumes that if you could produce these numbers with any accuracy (which you cannot), that you'd have a figure that reasonable folk could agree fits with what they might consider to be a "vast majority".
If you have made the statement based on this forum thread alone (again, supposedly started by sm-t701 when they were hacked into EA Mai's account...), then you're likely to be disappointed to hear that the true vast majority of players 1) don't use this site and 2) are silent.
And the silent majority always rules.
It's clear you two don't like the game anymore. I feel sorry for you. I really do. It's not fun having something that you once enjoyed become something that you really dislike. But do you really think EA is going to ditch this new element that they've invested in? No. At best, if it fails, it may hasten their retirement of this game and the release of SimCity BuildIt 2.0 (or whatever they may call it). But unless you and the "vast majority" you say are like you are huge spenders, and unless you vote with your substantial wallets, then you can expect to have exactly no impact or influence on what EA does to the game. I suggest you find a way to make your peace and move on. If the game has become so unbearably, impossibly distasteful to you.

Enjoyed your post very much ,I just need to clarify a few things 😀
Pacifist and antiwar ,you got that one wrong .I enjoy a good war game and I am playing war strategy games for years. I am sure sm-t701 does as well.
If you think those are aggressive avatars,you haven’t seen anything ..😬 ..I can send you a few war galactic veterans avatars ..awesomeYou are right about one thing ,EA won’t abandon the war feature and I made my peace with it and stop playing .
I always like city building games and sim city was the best of them. There are thousands war games to choose from and probably 10 good city building games. Just make the best city you can ,improve it , keep sims happyThe point I was making is this ..War and SimCity don’t belong together In my humble opinion . Goes against the very fabric of this game ..
That was all and you went overboard..
Waiting for the next update ..maybe a military bases across the city where you can train sims the art of war ,military service for all sims .. just joking 😀
