Clubs Purpose Simcity Buildit

I remember reading in the Mayors contest area in game about it would be interesting to see the contests done between clubs. I don't exactly understand how this will work, what are the winnings exactly. If this happens, will the individual contests still exist? I just have not found solid information about the details of the direction and purpose of the clubs. Trading is basically no different than just hitting HQ. I have members asking a lot of questions I can't answer. I see where other clubs are looking to start removing members who do not participate in the seasonal events, understandably if the club is leveraged for this but will the entire club gain benefits? Maybe I missed some information on all of this. I do notice what others are saying about the censorship, you can't write certain words if they resemble something close to a less than desirable vocabulary. I didn't read the post on bots but I know what they are and have experience with them in other games and that is a huge mess. So, most of us are just at loss about the intent because if it was intended for trade purposes , the mark was totally missed. It could be enhanced by direct member to member transfer, players want to be able to also be able to friend within the game or else just eliminate that reward. How about a Mayors reward for clubs. Big changes like this do take time to refine but I think clearly clarifying the main purpose of this addition would help everyone. Help please?

  • It seems as if clubs are working for people who are either part of a close knit circle of friends and family or had been trading with each other long before this feature was added. For everyone else, clubs are pretty pointless.

Naturally, if you're part of a closed club with friends and relatives, it's easier to trade. Because everyone in the club is likely going to be in the same time zone, it's easier to coordinate trades. You just tell your friend, "Oh, I'll be on in an hour, let's trade then," and it's all good. And chances are, because everyone knows each other, no one's going to snatch a trade out from anyone's noses.

When you're in an open club, it's a different story. It's a disaster. You want to do a one to one trade with a member, but there are 23 other members from God knows where lurking to see if they can snap the items up. Everyone's in different time zones so asking for stuff is pretty pointless. You will ask for dozers and it might be another four hours before someone turns up with them, and by then you're either at work or asleep or off doing some errand.

At first I was also confused by clubs but then I realized that they're kind of like guilds. Guilds are useless unless players know how to make the best of them, and I think that is the case here. Clubs will only really be helpful if you're trading in a closed club with online friends or family.

I have actually mainly played MMORPG's so guilds are the norm for me. I did start my own club here and started out as open then changed to closed, lol. Um, it's been a very different experience. I am used to members just jumping right in and giving input etc..I mainly feel like I am talking into a void. As a club leader, I am highly outgoing, offer the tips I know, encourage input, and I joke a lot. I am patient and giving everyone time to adjust. I have already set some gentle rules that long term inactive members would be considered as they have quit and they will be removed to allow active players to join. The club isn't a place to park your feeder city. Club jumping isn't acceptable. If you want to leave to try something else that's fine, I would appreciate them letting me know if there is a specific reason. If you just tell officers that you're stepping out and leave on good terms then you will be welcomed back if you find that it really wasn't what you thought. After one exit, coming back in will not be as easy and returning will only be available if there are openings. I have done all I know to encourage involvement but so far, I must say I am a little disappointed. I am on iOS. I don't Facebook. Game Center on iOS does not allow for friending. I still can't officially friend but it was what I had hoped would be an opening to meet players for trading or sharing information. This sounds awful, but sometimes I want to kick all but a small few out and just restart but I actually sent some invitations out and to ask them to leave with no good reason would be mean, lol. I have even posted my gaming email so I could be contacted privately if they felt the need. I don't know anyone in the club. I don't think the bulk of the players are accustomed to this way of coming together. When I opened the club, from my experiences I assumed, no rush, it takes forever forever for guilds to get members etc..lol..boy was I wrong..it was like a flock of seagulls fighting for the crust of bread. I have many lower level players and even mid levels that have had very little experience with the Mayors contest. I treat them all with kid gloves, express the positive but allow for freedom to play as they wish. I am just stumped. I know I am a regular name seen in global and the contest. I do posses some good solid game playing information, not a know it all though. I have a high population for my level and rank fairly high in contest points and level. So, I am not a complete dodo bird, lol. I frequently come here for information. I have spent the money to open the club and I am not going to close it down but after some time has passed, I think I will let members know that if they are not going to be more involved they should reconsider why they joined. I made that statement in the beginning but everyone is holding their spot, lol. I just needed to vent here I guess. If anyone can give some input I would greatly appreciate it. If I had known people would have filled spots in an hour then I would have done differently. I am accustomed to having to seek out members. I was highly active in Elder Scrolls for years. Maybe I am generalizing too much here, but maybe players who choose building games are a bit more "to themselves" so to speak. I like PvE vs PvP but communication has played a huge role. I can barely get a hello out of anyone. I still find things within a club beneficial if others are willing to step out on the ledge a little. As nice as I am I do have club agendas and eventually I am afraid it will boil down to take a chance and step out on the ledge or get pushed off in a way that is as kindly done as possible. Right now, I am just frustrated. Thanks

I guess you re right this club business could do with a huge amount of refinedment. I myself am at level 24 only but on opening a club I find people flocking to my club. I for not even rank high in com. The best way to work around this confusing mess would be to name your club with a name suggesting a locality/area/country/family/thing eg:-Starwarsfans club if you want to keep the club open.. I do agree that the trading mechanism is slightly out of sync and could e refined so that money and other supplies could be delivered directly.also feel disconnected with my club with my clubs VC promoting people I had no intention of promoting I hope everything will get resolved.

A lot of good points made here. I've been largely disappointed in the club experience so far. My thoughts:

    1) The nature of the game itself isn't conducive to chatting. Either people dip in and out of the game quickly to set up / complete tasks, or they're flying around to other cities looking for stuff. You can't chat, or see chat, unless you're home looking at the mayor island, which is inconvenient. I don't like to ask for something unless I can keep any eye on responses.

    2) Lots of rudeness. People come in either practically barking "Need ladders!" "Need coffee!" and my favorite "Need spare vu items!" (No such thing as spare vu items!) Others beg "Need land expansion items please please please!" Oddly, these kinds of people never respond to others' requests.

And there are others who ask for something and then never pick up the item after you've nicely responded. Never say they no longer need the item, never say they're logging off so never mind. Maybe they took the item and never said thanks.

    3) Lots of silence. I'm not looking to be real chatty, but I'll put out an occasional greeting, and get... nothing. Ever. Feels downright unfriendly. I think the club president should be more invested in making a club that's at least somewhat welcoming.

I don't know what the plan for the clubs / season competitions will be. I skipped the second season because I didn't like the items.

I do think that putting a chat response notification in one of the corners that shows up wherever you are would be helpful.
