I also started with a few of the easier, lower point tasks because I did not know that new challenges were added after completing one. I thought everyone would get the same tasks and whoever completed them the quickest would be at the top of the leaderboard. I noticed one player in my contest went from 0 points up to over 9000 in about 10 minutes somehow. The highest point option I had was 3300, followed by 1300, and all the rest were 1000 or less. I don't understand how this is a real competition if everyone gets random tasks worth random amounts. The playing field is not equal for all groups, not even for the 100 mayors in the same group. It brings to mind the old comparison saying "apples to oranges".
If you are getting ready to complete upcoming tasks while completing the current task you can easily get several thousand points in a short time. Also some of the higher point tasks can be completed quite quickly like producing metal and wood. But you have to have space and/or open global trading spots to dump it.
- Anonymous10 years agoLast contest I ended up 8th currently sitting at the top spot at 30.5K, so will get promoted again. This contest looks better than the first one. The majority of the mayors in my league were all lvl 18, and we are pretty much all lvl 19+ now. Points wise we are pretty similar, I got a 4K gap to the player in second spot at 19 assignments.
I have consistently chosen one of the top 2 assignments points wise this competition, but chosen items I needed or wanted to sell for a profit.
Most of my assignments has been between 870-1080 points, a few higher (biggest one 5K for earning 7 keys) Disasters, cargo ship, London deliveries and upgrading buildings have been my highest earners.
I will be interested to see how next weeks contest plays out, and to find another player at my own level to compare assignments with. Do each Mayors group start with identical assignments for the league players in that group?- Anonymous10 years ago
In my league (all Level 55 or 56) I ended up at 13th place with about 25K. The top spot is taken by a player with 30K. Place 21 (the first not being promoted) has 23K.
I always chose the highest assignments, usually 900-1200 points. I had three assignments worth 2-3K, nothing larger. I constantly had about 5 assignments worth less than 700.
Yes, I am promoted, but I doubt that I will get Platinum Keys if I keep being that unlucky with my assignments. Thanks to the increased number of assignments, the variance in the possible number of points is slightly smaller. However, your final rank in the competition should not depend on luck, only. It is very frustrating that there was absolutely no chance for me to get more points.

There is definitely something fishy going on I totaled ALL the points I had available if I had been able to complete EVERY assignment and still fell short of what my groups winner supposedly generated in only 20 assignments and he finished at least 24hrs earlier than anyone else. In fact my group had 4 players who exceeded by best possible score in 20 assignments and 2 of my highest point tasks appeared as my last 2 tasks when there was no chance for me to have enough time to complete them, so I had to concede about 1200 pts and complete the lower value tasks which had been the highest value available at the time I had prepared for them.
check the screenshots attached of the standings and remaining uncompleted tasks with only hours remaining. The lowest value task I remember completing was worth 900pts. So it is abundantly clear I never had a chance to win! These contest require a tremendous commitment and totally change the play of this game, but if they are not fair and equitable they may end up driving me from the game entirely.
