"Fairness"
EA,
I have been play this game now for over three years, in fact just after game launch. We certainly have seen a lot of issues, comments relating to game play on this forum.
My point today is this: Do you know what the word "Fair" means? Please read below.
adjective
in accordance with the rules or standards; legitimate, free from bias, dishonesty, or injustice
adverb
without cheating or trying to achieve unjust advantage
adjective
legitimately sought, pursued
There is nothing about this game that fits the above definition of the word fair. In fact EA's "fairness" to the players has gotten worse the last 12 months or so in the name of company profits.
The amount of resources today vs game start to upgrade a building is dreadful - hundreds then thousands now, the amount of experience points to get to the next level has increased ten-fold - 500 then 5000 now, tax collection has gone from .20 cents per person to .018 cents per person, the bias assignments in the weekly COM, canceling an assignment in the COM only to get it right back again, the discriminatory video ads, unfair pricing of legitimate items (120 Platinum Keys for waterfall/delta), suppressing availability of needed items that create unnecessary shortages, Neo items costs 10 times as much, the cost of upgrading the roads (I have spent $2,049,900 in doing so), Epic buildings (Cheetah) almost out of reach, forcing us into a war theme, introducing "comical features" that do not match the original theme of SCBI, placing limits on city size, not giving us the ability to store Utilities, Buildings, Factories, Stores which would aid us in our ability to reorganize our cities. On and on and on and on.
How can I say all of this without supporting documentation? I have that documentation. I have been using spreadsheets since April 2015 to track everything I do in SimCity Buildit. I enter data every day, I have charts based on that data. You can physically see the results of years of game play to see how "unfair" it has become. I would post this booklet online except that there are 60+ sheets of data, too much to post.
I have touched on, just some of the main activities that have taken a turn for the worse. I do realize that game play should get increasingly harder to play - but not to the point of tying someone's hands or compromising fairness. You say you want everyone to have a "enjoyable experience" in playing this game but you are actually attaining the opposite - frustration. There are many Mayors in our club that have gotten to the point of "boredom" and only play in the weekly COM.
There are a multitude of ideas, game enhancements, suggestions listed on this forum but never do they seem to be introduced into game play. Why are you not listening to us? If we got back that "enjoyable feeling" again maybe we would spend more money, as it stands now we would not.
Community managers: I have been repeatedly told by EA support that our suggestions and or ideas will be pushed on to the game developers. How is it that this arm of EA makes decisions of behalf of the company? Do the "ideals" of this game get planned out by these developers or do you have a Project Management team in place to guide them? It sure would makes sense (in more ways than one) to have someone looking out for player happiness in game play to keep the revenue stream floating. Or is it that you now make enough money off the video ads to support this game and you just don't care?
