The solution to the Global HQ problem is so simple it's really embarrassing to EA's developers, which is why it hasn't been implemented. Limit the number of like items that can be posted together. In other words, when I have ten fire pits (like that would happen), I never post ten fire pits as one package. I post one, or at the most, two together so that more people get a crack at getting one. I make the same amount of money and it only takes a few seconds extra. Naturally this couldn't be applied to small ticket items like steel or wood, so let's limit anything under $500 to a cap of 5 - so if you have 10 steel to sell, you post 2 packages of 5. Anything over $500 is limited to 2 per package. Simple, fair, and I would think, pretty easy to program (as easy as a "sold" sign, I'll bet).
@casaiguana -- Of course, you are assuming they want to correct the problem. There are literally hundreds of posts with good suggestions for improvements to the global HQ but they have not implemented any of them, at least so far, nor have they indicated any intent to do so. Instead, they continue to position (or "spin") their arguments for why they are right and we, the players, are wrong. They have made minor changes, but those changes were intended to reduce server loads, not help players find what they need.
Ultimately, they need to remove price caps and allow some form of filtering so players can find what they are looking for. Well-established rules of supply and demand will take over from there. When you artificially cap prices, you create scarcity, which is also part of the rules of supply and demand. Unfortunately, it appears this is intended to create frustration that will lead to "buy now" decisions using premium currency. This is just my opinion, and I don't work for EA, but the more I see people complaining about the Global HQ, and the more I experiment with it myself, the more I am convinced that they don't want it to work.
