Ios and update compatibility

I have an apple iPad mini (1st gen) and cannot update to iOS 10, today my simcity built it app will not open without updating the app which I cannot do without iOS 10. Is there a way I can open the app again without updating? I do not know if the game is saved or where it would be saved if it is. I don't believe I had it linked to game centre. But I really hope I haven't just lost my city. All I want is too be able to go into the city, make sure its linked and saved to facebook or game centre so that I can reopen it on a different device in the future. Any advice? Will EA make the new update compatible with older iOS's?

    Hey there, Mayor @Built_it_fan.

    Unfortunately the latest update does not include support for iOS 9 or below. That said, if you did have your city backed up through Game Center or Facebook, if you get a new device, you will be able to pull it up again and start where you left off.
