Is anyone else upset about the additional road upgrades?

Seems that all I can afford to do is upgrade roads now that the additional upgrades have been added.  I am on level 34 with 275,000 Sims.  Have been attempting to save up to build my airport, but all I can do daily is upgrade roads.  A two block stretch is $10,000-12,500!!!

It appears that EA is wanting to force everyone to spend real cash to get anything done.  Was having fun playing this and having a conversation point with my kids, but we will not be spending real money.  I am pretty well done with this game; quite a shame.

I am level 65 and have spent $0. Sounds like you need a better road layout, every intersection and corner adds to congestion. If you revamp your roads and move your towers around you should be able to slow down the upgrades. I left one road with 9 abandoned towers on it for a couple of weeks till I got everything under control, as long as your happiness is above 90% all is good. Long roads = good. Happy building 🙂

Wow, I'm scr*wed then. I have intersections all over the place. Would adding more bus terminals help to minimize the road upgrades? It's too bad we can't build subways on here as we could with the older PC Simcity 2000 game.

I am constantly spending all my Simoleans on road upgrades as well...I can't really save up enough for anything significant.

Don't forget if you are at an intersection you can face your tower either direction, sometimes it can help, keep at it, its a game of patience. I actually bulldozed my city around your level and started over, but that wasn't a ton of fun except Vu keys were super easy cause residence requirements were population based, dunno if they still are. I made 9 residences and blew them up countless times. Cheers

Thanks for the advice. It seems with the high costs of these road improvements that it would be too costly to just bulldoze everything and start fresh. I've actually started to move buildings to open area to delay the inevitable.  That does help but lately I've just been biting the bullet and upgrading.

It's like a daily tax. Every morning I start the game I know I'm going to get slapped with a $900-12500 "road improvement".

Right there with you.  The reason for my original post was that they added 2-3 levels above what was supposed to have been the "maxed out" level.  I've played the games with moving around buildings and refacing them, but eventually you get to the point where you've done as much as you can.

What bothers me the most is that, like GaryHymes was saying, my population can sit at the same level for days on end, but yet each morning I have a section of road that all of the sudden thinks it needs to be upgraded.  That's BS.

Well the only thing that happens if you don't upgrade is abandoned buildings that will repopulate once you do the upgrades. I had a ton of abandoned buildings for a few weeks, but eventually got ahead so my happiness is back above 90%. I only need another 2 million simoleans and I can have streetcars every where. Happy building 😉
