Well EA, you've finally done it. Sim City has become a Sim job. I retired 11 years ago. I've been playing this game at least 6 of those years. I have 3 cities. I have my own club, no outsiders, because I don't want to do wars anymore due to the cheaters out there.
I spend a couple of hours a day playing the seasons. My cities help each other advance through the tiers. I usually try to get to the low 20's (tiers) by the end of the first week. Then I decide if I'm going to buy the premium pass or not. Well that goal is now impossible to reach. The bonus assignments are too costly, even with the Golden tickets collected from the season. And the popsicles! The citizens from Chicago will just have to put up with heat. I'm not chasing after them to get "snowflakes".
All in all, I guess I'll just go back to building. If I collect a few rewards along the way, Great. If not so what. Remember I said I retired 11 years ago. I didn't start playing this game to go back to work. If the idea people at EA were working me, they'd be fired!
I can't say all of the changes are bad, but enough of them have made me pull back back and just build. No more Premium passes, no more Simcash purchases, no more rewards for EA. You've taken all of my rewards away.
If I could rate the game on Google lower than a 1, I would.
Hard to enjoy a game that forces me to grind away producing complicated inventory items, only to then force me to use those items on airport deliveries and cargo shipments for things I have no need for; all in the ultimately delusion pursuit of weekly prizes that can’t be reached without the added use of paid boosts.
Case in point, I’m a paid participant in the season pass, and I’ve completed all tasks to reach not only the imposed weekly progress season cap, but also all “bonus assignments” available, all daily assignments, all Chicago missions, and all but three of the weekly assignments. One of the uncompleted weekly assignments is to earn epic points, which would be fine, except the game no longer offers me epic buildings to upgrade, having apparently reached an undisclosed cap in that category. Even if I was able to complete everything, the maximum available weekly points would still leave me more than a thousand points shy of the weekly final building, and roughly 5,000 points shy of the snowflake total needed to purchase the top weekly item.
With the latest update, EA has transformed this from a fun game to a carnival game where no matter how one plays they can never win, and are certain to walk away feeling ripped off.
