I started playing the game in February and been having a ton of fun. I have managed to reach level 72 with 2.8 million population and growing. Storage is very important I took mine to 350 asap. This late in the game Simoleans are less of an object, within the next couple of weeks I anticipate the final upgrades to streetcars, factories and shops. Facebook friends could be important for you, at lower levels expansion items are readily available and a good friend could help you get them easily. At my level I get about 40-50 a day, I guess the game recognized I don't need them anymore so I get lots.
The only thing that's a pain for me are those pesky Vu remotes, I was hoping to find someone at a level where they were still plentiful and pay triple, but I think they are scarce at every level. Cheers and happy building.
