Re: How can I restart city on iPhone (iOS)?

I wrote directly on support and Yatin Balwani (creator of the game) sent me reply:

Hello Mayor, thanks for getting in touch!

As creator and caretaker of your very own city there are a number of ways for you to re-imagine, redesign and redevelop your cityscape.
At no cost to you, basic roads can be demolished and re-drawn, and your existing buildings can be moved easily with a ‘tap, hold and drag’ finger movement. Where your hard-earned Simoleons have been spent on the purchase-cost of a building (like an upgraded factory or specialisation HQ, for example) you’ll even get a partial refund of the cost if you decide to knock it down! You can check the refund amount on the bulldozing confirmation pop-up. The only buildings you can’t demolish are government and commercial buildings, as those are just too useful to lose!

Currently there is no way to restart your city, but I’ll be sure to pass your feedback to the team. Many thanks!

Can you pls make one!? 🙂 The demolishing tip is true, but in the beginning it is easier to make money while upgrading buildings. But if misinvested, and you want to rebuild your city, the money is gone, never to reclaim. If you could restart, then you can invest in things you know are important 😉 people who play these kinds of games are often perfectionists. I would advise to implement a restart button, not to lose players 😉

This is by design. And not a very good one at that. A big fat restart button would have solved the problem I had with my fist city. I wasted all my simcash on trade slots and with much regret unlinked my first game from both game center, facebook and google play (have a Nexus 5 and an iPad). Started a new game on my phone and have yet to sign in as my 2nd game would be overwritten by the mistakes of the first. I'm leaving my 1st game idle until there's an option to transfer the offline 2nd game over to the cloud.

Please EA developers make this possible. I have progressed well in my second game and I would it to be playable across multiple devices. A simple 'would you like to overwrite the game found online, with this current game' would suffice.
  • I concur with the others.  Most other games I've played when going to sync I am given the option to overwrite my current save or revert.   It would be much appreciated to be able to overwrite as many of us learned from the mistakes of our first games and restarted.

The solution is wrong.  You can restart a game on iOS, however it requires you to remove the game (and confirm removal from game center if you signed in to it using the game), and then re-install.  Beware though that if you sign in with game center again (or facebook) it will load your previous city if you confirm it.  Currently there is no way to overwrite the game that's being synced online via either game center, facebook, or google if you're playing it on android.

"...At no cost to you, basic roads can be demolished and re-drawn..."

That's actually false. There is a cost of time and energy.

"...and your existing buildings can be moved easily with a ‘tap, hold and drag’ finger movement. Where your hard-earned Simoleons have been spent on the purchase-cost of a building (like an upgraded factory or specialisation HQ, for example) you’ll even get a partial refund of the cost if you decide to knock it down! ..."

That's misleading. First of all a "partial refund" is still lost currency.

Second, a bigger issue that you've neglected to mention is lost simcash, often lost as a result of accidentally tapping relatively large, strategically placed simcash spending buttons that few players would press voluntarily. Of the 44 simcash that I've lost so far, 14 was intentionally spent.

Third, another bigger issue that you've neglected to mention is that of naively spent keys.

Also, there is the the time and effort it takes to tear down what one has spent time and energy building, and the added emotional drain of doing so.

The problem is the info is saved on the Gamecenter and Facebook servers, perhaps if you contact them they can delete it for you. Good Luck
