You can't put it back in your inventory. Daniel (the one neighbor the game gives you) will eventually buy it after a few days. So don't spend your hard earned cash on that. It all comes down to pricing. If you put it for sale at the recommended price, I find it just sits there. Also, keep advertising stuff. You can only advertise one item at a time but after a while you can advertise another item.
