I have zero desire to use the regions because of this storage issue.
Already I hate the fact that I placed one factory and can now produce silk, which would be fine and well if silk was limited to the region, but now I receive silk as a random prize in my Capital city for opening Neo canisters and I assume will be getting them from popping thought bubbles and I assume that I'll be seeing them now in already over Hamburgered Global market.
I regret unlocking the region.
EDIT: And now additionally I see I'm required to use these new items to upgrade building in my capital. Why would you integrate these new items into the established base city? Did some game engineer think it would be a good idea to "encourage" use of the new zones, with what? acceptable losses of people leaving the game for good?
How about a little notice next time, "WARNING: unlocking this region will force you to uses these items in your capital city, but ha ha, you have to make due with your current storage."

I am hating regions now. Just updated, and unlocked the first reagion because of curiosity.
But today starts the challenge...
How can I earn 450 simoleon leaf in the first day when I inlocked the region 1?
this mission appeared to me twice,
this way I'm extremely penalized, I whould have never unlocked the region...
Absolutely! This was an poorly thought through upgrade. You have majorly impacted players who are in the middle of a Mayor's Challenge or War. At least give us the opportunity to unselect an area and go back to just the Capital City.
- My club loves to go to war, but we are not going back to war until they fix this garbage.
I have not unlocked any regions, just updated the game! I now need items I can’t get and don’t have storage for. This in the middle of CoM when I am finally competing in Megalopolis league. This game is now more stress than fun. I am going to spend the rest of my SimCash on finishing tasks quickly and probably delete. Too much work and frustration. At least no one can complain about players staying under bubbles in war, since they are now unable to do repairs that require items they can’t get, and will be staying bubbled against their will.
Feedback re: regions
First thank you for incorporating new expansion options. Fully expanded players will appreciate this most. Regions are conceptually right on target. However, communication is key, and better front end “how tos and pitfalls” would have helped players decide if they want to opt in to the update now or wait. Adding new production items is fine except for the challenges others have mentioned already for storage, not being able to produce items required for repairs, and limited currency earning potential.
Two other requests please: the color palette on lakes and ponds and the birds has changed. Lakes and ponds are a different shade than original darker blue, which conflicts with surrounding water and building features. For continuity in water landscaping visuals please restore the original blue to match default lake color. Second, one attractive feature on specialty buildings are the birds that fly across the landscape. These were white in pre-update. Now birds are shades of green and tan and blend into the background, cannot be seen. Look closely at Japanese specialty buildings to see the difference. These may seem minor in comparison to storage and production items but could be a very easy fix to restore the “natural” look to the background landscape.
Thank you for your your interest in player feedback to smooth out the rough spots. Storage, earning potential, and color palette shift.
@roccodonovan8: If the forum posts are to be believed, it seems you start receiving the new items as random rewards even if you do not unlock a region. So I'm not sure you can "turn off" the new update
