Continuing on the topic of trying to manage an active Club. We all are constantly seeing problems with Chat History.
It's nearly impossible to Trade in the Club, when you don't know Club member#1 posted an item for Club member#2. Because Club member#2 doesn't see the chat history saying that Club member#1 posted it.
And really this is a huge mess for our club.
On a techie basis, my best guess is... that X number of cities are on Server 1, Y number of cities are on Server 2, and Z number of cities are on Server 3. Server 1 happens to be in TimeZone A, Server 2 happens to be in TimeZone B, and Server 3 happens to be in TimeZone C. Then each Server is set to rotate old chat history by size of log file. Which means depending on how many users happen to chat on the particular server that server will rotate out (delete) older chat messages than other servers. To make things more interesting it also seems the specific user tends to keep messages they saw in their own chat before logging out of the game in some type of local cache. And to add to the mix - users who are using tablets vs. phone also have a different experience.
So... what does this do in our club? Goes something like this:
Club member1: happens to be on a tablet - is online till midnight they see their messages till midnight and perhaps several hours before midnight. They log out... They log in - in the morning they still see their message from midnight - then there is gap of perhaps 5 hours - and then they see the most recent up to 3 hours of history. They know it's missing 5 hours, because the recent 3 hours starts in the middle of a conversation between multiple club members.
Club member2: happens to use an phone - they log in - and they only see the past 2 hours of chat history and nothing else.
Club member3: happens to also be on a phone - they log in - they only see 40 minutes of history and nothing else.
Club member4: happens to be also be on a tablet - they log in - and see the past 30 hours of chat history. So they alone know what actually happened for the past day and a half.
NOTE - the next day... member1 may see 4 hours of chat history. member2 may see 2 hours. member3 may see 6 hours. member4 may see 3 hours. i.e. from day to day, the same user never sees a consistent amount of chat history. And in each of the above cases, members who see more than 4 hours of history, may or may not be missing hours of history in the middle of the sequence
Please fix the Chat History, so that it's consistent.
The best solution would be to make history a config item that the user can choose, as I would think it takes more memory on the device to view long running history. But if it's not possible, a straight 24 hour rolling history would be the best.
