This may be an App Store issue, but out of curiosity were your cities backed up on App Store and/or Facebook before updating or uninstalling? If so, have you clicked the tools or settings icon and reconnected to the App Store and or FB, whichever you used before? Just an idea while your waiting for a response from support.

My city is backed up to Facebook.
However, the app got stuck during starting and downloading some data.
Reinstalling doesn’t do anything, apart from the game claiming it has no internet connection and eventually getting stuck again downloading stuff
Thanks for the suggestion but my city is backed up by all 3 options (apple, FB, Game Center).
also - Ea responded to me but sent basic troubleshooting steps that I’ve already tried….
Yes, my city was backed up with Game Center. I was able to reinstall the game, go through the tutorial, click the connect to Game Center button, select my old city, and after that the game started telling me I need to be online.
I just reinstalled the game one more time, and now I'm not even able to start a new city.

Maybe a regional server problem?
I had no issue with update. I live in GMT-8/Pacific Standard Time. I play on Samsung Android though and back up with GooglePlay and FB.
I wish I could offer more than very basic technical advice, but I really am getting too old for new tech; not for gaming though.😉
I hope this issue is resolved very soon. I will scan through reddit and FB group threads and posts though, and if I find anything I'll post it here.

I'm pretty sure it's an isolated issue as none of my club members experience any game issues. I live in GMT-5/EST and I play on iOS (iPhone and iPad).
