11 years agoNice point raven, I agree completely. While I understand that the devs intended the transportation buildings to be a population/tax boost the same as the other non essential services, I think transportation should be somewhat different and actually serve a purpose by reducing traffic. In fact I already consider it an essential service like police etc..when laying out my city and providing 100% coverage
Also try adding big ticket transportation buildings like heli port or airship hanger..way better coverage

Other than for looks I don't see the point of placing things that offer higher cost to coverage ratios. Bus terminal covers 48 squares per key, airship 25.6 per key, and balloon 18 per key. Unless I'm missing something entirely here?
- Anonymous11 years agoTransportation buildings that offer better coverage means you can delete lower level buildings like bus depots and free up space for more residential or other specialization
Same for essential services like police...buy one precinct and you can get rid of three or four medium police stations - Anonymous11 years agoI guess that depends on what you consider the cost to be. Keys are a renewable resource and easy to come by. Land is a precious limited resource. It would take a lot of bus terminals to equal the same coverage as a heliport. Those squares wasted on bus terminals could be used for more residential buildings or other population boosting specialty buildings. If the end goal is to increase the total population, the smallest footprint specialty buildings that offer the most boost and the largest area of coverage are the best.
EDIT: CJ nailed it. Totally agree.- 11 years ago
I had not concidered that metric. Ok bus terminal 48 squares coverage per square used. I don't have enough keys and I can't find any online resources for game info still. So I can't do the math for the heliport. How many squares does it take up?
