What does the stream of "ZZZ" mean anything coming out of the factories?

How can i increase production out of the factories?  I haven't had any output of materials in several days.  Also, what does the stream of n"ZZZ's" mean coming out of my factories?  Do I need to do a...

Thank you!!  That was a big help.  I was hard to find information on the "ZZZ's"a and how to get the factories to produce materials.  Much appreciated.
