Error Code 65538:-1

Does anybody get this when the game tries to prepare download?

    Hi everyone,

    We have merged several threads about the error 65538:-1, please find below a communication from the Help center:

    Our team has confirmed an Origin service outage and are working to resolve this as soon as possible.

    IMPORTANT: Players affected by this outage may experience the following issues:

    • Attempting to redeem a code will appear to be successful, but will NOT actually apply to your account.
    • The “My Games” library will be missing and only display “Origin Store” and “Free Games” tiles.You may receive a “Slow network error” message upon login.
      • If you are able to see your “My Games” library, you will not be able to download products.
    • If you attempt to download you will get 1 of 2 error messages:
      • Error 503
      • Error 65538:-1
        • Both of these errors will block players from downloading games.


    Our team is working to resolve this outage as soon as possible. In the meantime, if you are experiencing any issues with your Origin account, we recommend not trying to redeem any game codes. Please stay tuned for further updates.

For some reason Origin thinks the game is completely downloaded when it clearly isn't.  Origin downloads 268 MB then tells me the game is ready to play. If I try to play directly from Origin, nothing happens.  If I try to play using the desktop shortcut, the launcher opens and tells me Origin isn't installed.

I've tried reinstalling the game, it just downloaded the same 268 MB.  I've tried repairing and updating, and I get this error: "We're sorry.  An error occured while trying to download your game. Please try again later. [65538:-1]"

    Origin only downloads about that much, the rest is downloaded via the SimCity launcher. All-in-All the game stands at 3.8GB.

    That error you're getting is the server being swamped. Keep trying.
