How to . . .

I need some instructions on how to play this game.  I click on icons (build a church etc.)  a dialogue window comes up but I can't put my mouse on it, it disappears.  There are other issues that I could use some info on, but when I go to game manual, I just get other games that you are trying to sell me.  Very user UNFRIENDLY!!!
