Unfortunately I'm also facing this issue. I just bought the game yesterday evening so didn't even get into the game at all yet after a day of trying!
I only wanted to play singleplayuer, why are the servers needed for that in the first place? 

@EA_Hux thanks for letting us know, could you please keep this thread informed about progress?
