Forum Discussion
Hi everyone,
I've merged all your posts into this thread, so it's easier for all of us to find the information and to follow up on this.
We are aware that the interactivity between cities is currently not working as expected on all servers and we are already looking into this.
I apologize for this inconvenience and I will update you as soon as I have more information available.
Thank you for your continued patience and understanding while we are working hard to resolve this as quickly as possible.

I understand getting people to be able to play the game has been a bit of a priority given the situation. Though I think its not a good idea to break core gameplay aspects in the process of doing that. Without the ability to share resources cities have to be completely autonomous which realistically doesn't occur. I would really like to see this fixed since it makes it very hard to have any of the higher level gameplay impossible. Can't run a tourist trap with out tourists, can't have a "crafting" chain if shipping doesn't happen, smaller town have to use valuable space to build structures that could otherwise be purchased from a major city nearby.

Thank you for letting us know. I and many others have been batting our heads against the wall wondering if we're not doing something right.
It would be EXTREMELY nice to have a separate forum catetory of Known Issues that only EA can post.
Transparency is key especially with the state of things being the way they are. Having to dumpster dive through this forum what with all the complaints makes it difficult to find key pieces of information such as this. I was going to spend more time this evening and this weekend to try to see if it was something I was not doing correctly. Now that I know this doesn't work right now, I won't spend time on this and just getting frustrated.

Assuming this is related tot he same problem. Apparently the Deprtment of Transportation isn't even working within the city it's built in now. I added it onto City Hall and none of the upgrades (Passenger Train/Muncipal Bus) can be plopped down. The Ultilites upgrade works just fine though. Seems to just be new cities, ie cities built with Dept. of Transport upgrade before region sync went all funky don't appear to have this issue.

Another wierd issue I have noticed is, (not sure if this is a shynch issue) But sometimes when I log in, I have my actual uploaded profile picture that I see. Other times, I have jsut the blue ?? icon as my profile picture. It SEEMS, that when I see my picture, the cities synch up fine, and trade occurs betwwen them. if I have the ?? mark icon, they do NOT synch with each other.

Thank you for "working hard to resolve" basic gameplay features. Can EA please just admit fault here, apologize for launching a beta version of the game, and give us all a big kudos for being beta testers?
Funniest part about this is how they tried to justify these features as the reason to require the game to be online only and they don't even work.

omg im so tired of all this. nothing works!!!!!
cant send money to any of the city, money is sent but never arrive! no energy is sharing... fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu EA, origin and everyone else who is responsible for this crappy service

I will mark this post as a solution to increase the visibility. I am aware that the issue itself is not resolved yet. This post will be updated as soon as I have more information available.
Why mark it as resolved if it isn't? I came into this thread hoping for a solution but found the bait and switch. This game just gets worse by the moment. It is currently completely unplayable.

We started a multi-city on one of the new servers and it shares much better. Only a few minutes before it all happens. Not great..but bettter then it is on the overloaded servers.
And oddly achievements were back on. but no cheeta speed. but the city hall upgrades would show region wide after only a few minutes. same with utilties.
There is a bug with recycling though. It will suddenly stop. To fix it yoiu have to put down a new recyler and then the old one works.
It give me hope they can get this fixed.

eadennis:
Thank you for at least a reply, though I believe my post is a bit different from the other posts which you have merged. If not:
Are you confirming that Alloy, Coal, Plastic, Oil, etc can be sent to other cities easily on a hourly basis similar to Freight, workers, Education, power, water (without gifting?) through some type of frieght option that is currently down because of the server issues?
Because if so, I haven't seen it. Perhaps a better description of what is "local" in the Trade Depot/Port Screen might help.
Please give a bit more information.- 12 years ago
Just thought I'd update that one of my regions finally started syncing resource trading, gifts, commuting, city hall upgrades etc. albeit really sporadically and unreliably until I got booted a few minutes ago. Regions w/ inter-dependent specialized cities still seem pretty unplayable however.
It's gotta just be a load dependent thing.
- Anonymous12 years ago
This is why you need a Known Issues forum category.

I gotta say this is a load of crap. They are pushing this game to be a multiplayer game and it is to be focused on multi city type game play. If that portion of the game does not work what is the point? Shouldn't this have been discovered in one of the beta releases? I was really looking forward to this game and so far it has been a huge let down. :-(

Marking this post as "Answered" should have you fired. "I will mark this post as a solution to increase the visibility" is complete BS and an outright lie to those of us that are actually seeking a remedy to the waste of time and money we are experiencing. It's bad enough that the game is basically unplayable currently, but to have to go online, research why features aren't working, to find a "solution" that tells me that you basically don't know what the hell is wrong or don't want to admit it if you do is a slap in my face. I don't want to get on the "I hate EA" bandwagon but I am **bleep** close to getting my money back and never buying another game from you guys myself right now.

This is not fixed yet! Whom ever has marked this as solved has no idea how this game is fundamentally broken. The ONLY reason to have this game be online only is to have the ability to share within a region and this has not worked consistently enough to make this game playable for anyone wanting to invest more than an hour or two into a city. I can tolerate servers not being able to handle everyone who wants to play, but to finally get on to realize the game is broken is a total waste of my time.

Just wanted to bump this.
Without resource sharing this game simply cannot be played. Cities that dont communicate will eventually fail.
I also want to say that it WAS working on NAE4 for a few hours yesterday morning and it was a BEAUTIFUL thing. When it works it makes things so much easier and you can relly see how you can specialize cities. Now all my cities need EVERYTHING in order to prolong their demise.
