If the game was designed for less than top performing PCs [common PCs ], then there wouldn't be so much bad PR!
Because I have these issues as well, I'm definitely not buying any more games from Origin.
Not sure I can help, but unless you are running a really old computer that has never had driver updates, your lag problem should not be because the game is designed for higher-end PC's. This game was coded in 2013 - and this thread is from game launch in 2013 as well. So, odds are your issue is something else.
Some things that may help -
- Make sure you have the latest graphics drivers and Windows is updated
- Make sure Origin.exe and SimCity.exe are both added to the exception lists for your anti-virus and firewall programs
- If you have BitDefender (anti-virus program) or Nahimic 2 (MSI's sound program) running, uninstall or disable. Both are known to interfere with SimCity
- Set Origin.exe and SimCity.exe to "Run As Administrator"
- In Origin, right-click SimCity icon, choose Repair
- In Origin, right-click SimCity icon, Game Properties, check the box that says "Disable Origin In-game"
- Set the SimCity desktop icon to run in Windows 7 or 8 compatibility mode.
- In SimCity settings, you could try setting everything to minimum to see if it has any effect. If the game runs fine on low resolution, then gradually increase the settings to find the "sweet spot" for your computer
If none of these work, try a clean boot and launch SimCity. If it runs well after a clean boot, you'll have some detective work to do. Enable one startup program at a time, reboot, try SimCity, until you find the program that is blocking it.
Hope that helps - Happy Building!
