My computer suddenly powers down while playing.
I think it's Origin related as it happens both with SimCity and Dead Space 3.
I signaled this to @AskEASupport on Twitter. They replied:
"A hard shutdown indicates either overheating or other system issues when trying to run games. Have you tried updating?^EX"
I asked back 'Updating what?" and got no response.
It doesn't happen with Steam or other graphics-intensive software I use on a daily basis (like video editing, image rendering & whatnot) so that answer and the fact that it happens on countless machines is a clear case of "We don't know, let's blame anything else"
If you need an example of lame & lousy after-sale support, you have it right here.

Yea. They will keep blaming your computers. Telling you to update drivers, uninstall, repair, and so on. If they are not the dev there is no way they can know if it is coding or not. Until the dev updates them and adds a fix for them in their script they go through then you are all wasting time getting a hold of them. They are like us. People with no clue what the hell is going on so they go to the most blamed culprit and all it a day. This is what happens when your system overheats. I know that but my system is not overheating. If this happened to every game I played, yea I can accept that it is my system but I play other games for hours with nothing happening. Other tests and stress tests for hours with nothing happening. I gave up trying to contact them. (Still nothing from twitter or e-mail that i sent a week ago.)
If it DOES NOT happen with steam games then it is not your hardware. I don't see anything that could make it people's hardware. I played another new game last night for 3 hours and not a single crash. Simcity for 3 minutes and a crash. Yah it's me overheating alright. I am about to just say eh.. It doesn't run with my current setup. I will try again later if any hardware changes because there is no faults in my drivers or hardware. I want a refund but there is no point fighting over it. I wont even get origin store credit.

Wow, this has reached spectacular proportions.
3 times today my computer shut down while playing SimCity, each time after no more than 20 minutes of play. With yesterday's rollback problem, this begins to look as bad a the launch.

And again today, no more than 30 minutes of gameplay before computer shuts down...
...and the same happens with my other Origin game,
BTW, I have a Radeon HD4600.

Again, shutdown after 10 minutes....
This is ridiculous.I'll start another session and see how long I last before my "computer overheats or my system fails."

This is exactly what happens to me EVERY time I play. I'll get 15-20 minutes of smooth gameplay then the screen goes black and either the computer crashes or the game lags like crazy and all animation is choppy. While Simcity is still running like this I will open MS Flight Simulator and have no issues at all. The second I switch back to Simcity, it's awful.
I'm running a brand new AMD Radeon 6750 with 8GB Ram and a 3.6 ghz dual core and am blown away that this kind of thing can happen with just ONE game.

Also happens with my other Origin game: Dead Space 3

I have the exact same problem with Simcity and ME3! Can't be all our systems!!!

Hah you were not the first. This problem is happening to a lot of people. I gave up. I am not playing anymore until it is confirmed to be fixed. Well I can't play. I meant I am not doing tests anymore heh. I was on the phone with an EA rep and he agreed with me that it wasn't my computer but the elevated wait time was 60 minutes. No way I am waiting on the phone just to have someone tell me it is my fault.
