12 years agoSimCity won't start
I just downloaded the new SimCity last night using Origin. The problem is that when I try to launch the game, the cursor blinks as though the computer is working, but the game simply doesn't launch. ...
I pulled it up and got a quick update of some sort, then it won't load.
Says Checking for Updates and has a 100% in the circle but doesn't do anything.
I've rebooted, uninstalled and reinstalled Origin, disabled Origin iiIn Game. Nothing. Plays music and sits there.
This ended up working for me:

Seemed like it did the same thing but after reading a bit on the forum I looked again and it was all set and waiting on me to start.
Didn't work for me -- well, I was able to launch the game from origin once and got excited, it did the update, said to click on start button to finish installing, then went back to origin start screen and never started. Now that fix doesn't work. I guess I would have to go in and delete all user files again, but what's the use when I can't get the game to actually start.
For those of you that are having problems trying to start SimCity. Try disabling your Firewalls, it should open after that. Configure your Firewalls after that so that you don't have any other issues. For some reason my Firewall randomly started preventing SimCity from opening.
