Tourists suddenly stop coming.
Anyone have any idea why tourists would suddenly stop coming to my town? I have no crime/health/garbage/sewage issue, there's an expo center with events regulaly going, 2 fully upgraded gambling hall...

I have had this same problem a couple times now. First city, I didn't really know what I was doing, so who knows... Misplaced all kinds of things, etc.
I read up a lot on this "tourism bug", so converted a fledgling city of mine into a tourist city using what I had learned. All was going well for a period of time. Swimmingly actually! I'm not sure when things went south exactly... It could have been once I decided to add a casino (it was a successful culture city, so I figured why not bilk the tourists for even more simoleons), or even when I put schools in (was using neighbour's schools for a long time). Come to think of it, I also got some hotels which seemed to coincide with the downfall of my tourism industry (as stated in previous posts)...
I have just now bulldozed all my hotels, and will advise on the outcome once I am able to observe anything of note.
(I also realize that maybe I use too many parentheses 😕mileyhappy🙂
P.S. EA's spell checker doesn't recognize the word "Simoleons". Isn't this sort of an indication of how utterly ignorant towards attention to detail they can sometimes be?
Ok, so one immediate observation I have is that after logging back into my city which was losing several thousand an hour, it is now at +4500. The only thing I did was delete hotels and then got booted while on pause due to inactivity.
Furthermore, I now I have 3500 tourists, whereas I previously had 2800.
Evidence is possibly mounting that in fact hotels due fcuk your cities.
There's definitely something fishy about the way that casino profits are added to your cities ledger. For example, I had a casino that had $1800 under "Income/Expenses" (profit), and my city budget was -6000 or so. So naturally, I powered down an apparently profitable casino, and then suddenly my income shot up to a whopping +600 or so.
I'm not sure what to make of this, but it seems like this casino was subtracting $6200 from my budget, while adding absolutely fcucking NOTHING.
Welp, it's a few days later now, and still no progress. I have all my hotels deleted, so that's not a problem. But still almost zero tourists. What appears to happen, is that all tourists immediately turn "white" upon entering the city on the tourist map.
It was suggested that maybe there was some sort of landmark/zoning mismatch - in other words, it was said that landmarks attract certain wealth level depending on what's in the descriptions (high/med attraction), which I think is complete BS, and that you need to have compatible casinos/commercial zones/etc.
Well, so I changed all my landmarks to medium to compliment my expo centre. Nothing happened. Furthermore, high wealth Sims also visited my landmarks while the "potential tourists per day" dropped dramatically once I got rid of my "high attraction" landmarks.
So it seems without a doubt that your tourism city will cease to function after so many years of game time. Guaranteed. And why the hell do so few people acknowledge this when it is UNDENIABLE and has been going on for SEVERAL MONTHS?!?!? Absolutely incredible. Maybe the majority of players play their cities for 3 years, declare it a success, and move on to something else?
- Well.. You never know with people! For sure, there would either need to be some mechanic clarifications to the casino gameplay, or some big old issue with how the server part engine is dealing with it (regional?)
