Game will crash on starting screen with skate, no crash logs

I am trying to play skate on my desktop and I've been having trouble getting skate to run functionally. Every time I try to press X on my controller to start the game, or if i don't, my game will quit to the EA app. Is anyone else having this problem and know how to stop it from happening?
