How to play with friends who have access to the playtest?

Has anyone figured out how to play with your friends in a party who also have access the playtest? We tried joining a lobby at the same time and it did work once but we are no longer having luck. Has anyone had any luck or know of any other work arounds to play with your friends who have access? We are both in Xbox.
