In the tutorial, the game request you to complete a Heelflip and a kickflip over a ramp. While you can complete this tutorial, the guide showing you how to do these is reversed. For a kickflip it shows you the movement of the stick for the kickflip and vice versa.
Currently this tutorial hasn't implemented the different stance and how the affect the flick it controls, we can expect this will be polished in later version.
Was about to leave the same comment. To add to this, I noticed after that I chose my Skater to have a "regular" stance. When the tutorial started, it set it as Goofy, so that was most likely why my controls were backwards for learning Kickflip/Heelflip.
Also, somehow during that tutorial, I must have turned my skater back to regular. The Tutorial just needs to recognize the stance to show the correct controls.
I spun in to switch and hit it and it worked, I skate goofy, and just from the knowledge of skating I saw that was why it wasn't registering
