Log in to your account at ea.com at the top right, unlink your Xbox one account, restart your console and game, then you will be able to connect. Just found this out and trying to post this everywhere.

I'm having the same problem on XBox 360. I've gotten the same message since I bought the game a few months ago. I can't see that I have any Xbox accounts linked to my EA account.
This worked perfectly for me, thanks man you’re a saviour, I really want to get all the achievements for my favourite game but I could only play offline.
I think the trouble we’re having is our accounts were made with an age that wasn’t 18+ which causes issues trying to connect to EA servers for older games.
how?
