I guess the essential banner is there for visual purposes, it's easier to recognise titles that are part of this program.
Like I said a PlayStation store program so this is just my guess but if you would like to have an accurate answer, you may need to ask Sony PlayStation. 🙂
oh i understand thank you. but becuse my brother has the skate3 on ps3 thats non essentials can i still play with him?
@Skat0r4Life - As long as you are both playing on the same plateform, you will be able to play together. If you both own a PS3, you'll be able to play together.
Don't forget to download your Online Pass for Free on the PlayStation Store in your console (this is a DLC) and also if you have not done it yet, link your PSN ID to your Origin account.
