Hey,
Basically I know there's a lot of people in the Skate community longing for a Skate 4 and the other day I stumbled across this video on YouTube, which seemingly confirms the existence of a Skate 4.
However I was skeptical as to the credibility of this video so I decided to go ahead and call them up myself for some answers. After various people told me they had no knowledge of a Skate 4 I was eventually put through to the extremely helpful/lovely Lorraine in Austin, Texas. After she had spoken to a few people she said something along the lines of "although no release date or details have been confirmed I expect it will come out in 2013". She was quite vague, I am sure they are told to be like this when discussing future games which haven't been officially announced, but the general gist was that one is in development somewhere (I think).
I am just posting here so those who may or may not be developing a Skate 4 can see that we have all played Skate 3 to death and want nothing more than a fourth installment! With recent rumblings of the next gen coming out at the end of the year I believe, as do many others, that this would be the perfect time to release a new Skate; utilising the new technologies and bringing us a more realistic and comprehensive skating experience. As great as Skate 3 is there are definitely things that could be added which my friends and I have discussed at length. Here's a few examples:
-Flatland: perhaps a mechanic whereby you click in the analogue sticks and then do combinations similar to doing flip tricks?
-Pressure flips: again, this could be easily achieved by a similar mechanic to the one above.
-More realistic physics: while Skate 3 is a great game, what it lost from the earlier games is the more realistic physics. The option to play on easy and normal should still be there but perhaps there could be another even more realistic mode than hardcore for those who want an ultra-realistic skating experience.
-The map: I'm sure on next gen it would be possible to make a really cool, really massive map. A lot of people missed having one large, fluently skateable map in Skate 3 and I think if there was to be a Skate 4 it would be great if it could feature one massive map that you can Skate around, rather than having the different parts like Skate 3 did.
-More tech stuff: I know this is vague but if there was more technical tricks you could do I know it would add a lot of enjoyment for me and my friends who play Skate.

- I just want to say thanks so much for posting this, like you I've been trawling the net for ages looking for any semi-credible news on a new Skate instalment, as it seems ea have all but abandoned the series. Thank you so much for your diligence in fact-checking that makes this the only credible news (and thankfully, fairly recent!) that I've found. If you find out any more information at all I and many others would love to hear it, and I shall check back here often. Again, thanks for giving hope to a heart broken at the previous news that there would not be a Skate 4.
please tell me whate you think of my ideas, alright so i feel like its basically been the same since skate 1 i think it would be really cool if there were some major changes. the first is you you should have to catch the board so say you doing a kickflip you have to pll down and flick up and to the left and hold it until the griptape comes around an release the stick to catch and depending on when you catch it you could fall or land sketchy or land clean or even land in primo. it would make a simple pop shuvit cool since youd have to let it rotate exactly enough before you catch it. my other idea is to make skating halfpipes not mostly about airs its stupid that you cant even do a rock to fakie. i was thinking if you could skate miniramps and ge able to skate it like i do in real life with mostly stalls and grinds, you could do a rock to fakie by going up and right before the coping pull down to do a manual then push forward after your the front is past the coping and pull down to bring the front up and start coming back in an end it by push forward to bring the front back down. a rock and roll would be the same thing but when your coming back in use the other stick to pivot aound. using that basic concept the possibilities could be endless
- Like I posted earlier with the flatland, Tony Hawks proving Ground already has a similar system: click the sticks, move one stick until the board is finished rotating and bam, trick, just like the thing you explained. EA would get a lot of backlash for using a method like the one you suggested. I really like it, it's just that it already exists in THPG, like with the flatland.
- Those are terrible ideas! It would be a lot harder to do tricks if they put your ideas in!
Lets keep this thread alive so EA can see we need a new skate game
so effin happy about a possible skate 4 in the mix. I love all the skate games but yeah..Its time for something new. Been playing the game for too long and as the weather sux at the mo !too much! I need some new virtual spots haha.
as for ideas....As a skater and a gamer I think lawnflamingo2 ideas are sick, but thinking as a generic gamer I don't know if both ideas would translate as fun or a technical annoyance. I like it tho. Maybe it would be possible to incorporate that stuff within the difficulty settings. ???
I think maybe a better tow/skitch is needed. The cars are great for getting pulled around the map but as for getting speed to hit a spot is a nightmare. it takes ages to get it right and its also a glitchy area in the game. what about a friend on a bike? and be able to mark start/finish points to be towed from. I think this would translate to the generic gamer too as it could be used to do 1080 one foot judos off a mini qtr or for a realistic trick for the people like me who use this game as an alternative to when you can't skate.

more stuff in skate park creator. The one in skate 3 is great. tbh that's what has kept me playing. Being able to d'load from others is good as you can keep finding new stuff to skate. So just more stuff in general would be good.

- Like your ideas. I can't skate either so this is the closest skating fun I can have. One suggestion I have is a snowboarding game unlike any other, like the new BMX Game comin soon. That would be cool aswell, maybe switch from skate to snow, I dunno.

- Honestly... In my opinion I think Los Angeles is the best place to skate. So make the map of Los Angeles... Also include A house and Furniture... Add Real Skate Shops like Active were you can actual walk in the Door.. You should also add new tricks like dolphin flips, primo slides , Dragon Flips, Nightmare flips and more. Add New Skaterz Too Like Paul Rodrigues, Nygah Houstan, Shaun Malto, Torey Pudwill and more... Also add New skate brands Like Primitive, Sk8 Mafia, and more.. Add pro boards like Paul Rodriguez Gold Eagle Board.. ADD PLAYER AudIO WERE YOU CAN FINALLY TALK IT WOULD BE A GREAT ADDITION TO THE GAME... Add Bearings and Grip Tape... Better graphics with a first person mode would make a great addition to the game too.. Also A harder mode were you make pebbels and the terrain if the sidewalk / road can mess you up. Also Add brand socks brand like nike sb or huf.. Bring Back Sponsors and phone so you can hit up homies and add schools and more varietie of people.. Add Stickers.. Add a skate tool so you can put your board togethet... Also make the board snap if its to old or your just angry and let the board chip and gt razor tail so you should get a new board... Add a better skateboard designer with a better color section and a better character modifier like in madden 15 game face so your player looks like you... And in hard mode if you break a bone you must rest... And a mode where you can choose either your a street or vert skater.. (I Honestly prefer Street) Also add a feature that you can pop a bearing.. Also add a Map and suggested areas to skate (either vert or street).. Also add wax .. Add a better camera angles and lenses.. ADD A STREET LEAUGUE COMPETITION (For street Skaters) Where you battle against pros OR ADD A X GAMES ( For Vert Skaters) Where you also battle pros.. Add A better and more interactive world where you talk to people or pros.. That is all of my ideas for SKATE 4 AND PLEASE ADD A PLAYER AUDIO PLEASE
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5, as much as I enjoyed Tony Hawk games, bombed. I haven't played it, but the game did poorly. Skate was originally made to compete with Proving Grounds, and it has sold more than that game. And now is the time for Skate 4 to be developed.
I think that they should also incorporate longboarding aspects such as bigger hills, bigger boards, more realistic speed wobbles, downhill wheels and trucks etc.

I couldn't help but notice you're post about skate 4. You are deffinetly right.
I think that Skate 4 should have something like the Stadium like off of Skate 3. Because it is a fairly large map and people have enjoied making their oun parks from the Stadium. Like Megaparks, Realistic parks, and just out right crazy parks. So the idea of having a large map is a great idea, and i also think that there should be another difficulty, i think it should be called Vetran. And all of you're other ideas were splended.
So, i will call ea on the phone and tell them about yo're GREAT ideas. Oh, and one more thing, between you and me, EA is making a new bmx dame named Ride. It should be way FUN. Do you have a PS3? and if so whats you're account name so that i can send you a Friend Request. my account name is really btrease. NO CAPS

The only thing I would want in a possible Skate 4 would be:
Better map(skate3 had no spots and was too clean),
Draining pools and removing grind stoppers should come back,
Better lighting(like it was i skate 2, + a day/night cycle),
No easy/hardcore mode(just more tweaked physics and harder to gain speed),
And ofcourse i would like to see Reda come back even though he's annoying as ****.
i like those ideas...personally i would NOT like reda back but i do like those other concepts....i thought that in skate 4 they could maybe have a larger clothing range...ya know so its not all chavy clothes i would also like to see more skaters such as daewon song...ali boulala maybe.
another thing a day and night cycle , better spots.. and one big map instead of seperate zones...skate reel and graphics creator .... oh and maybe add stickers to your board and be able to change your board size ...oh and please hope they have the redbull manny mania maps....and more emo clothes.....and definately griptape designs and better graphics and more realistic skating. and many more tricks and more skate companies such as sugar blind..(they was not in skate 3 for some reason) and maybe enuff and world industries ...... and real spots but i do really want that sticker thing (and be ableto have more than one) and the possibility of your board snapping and more realistic bails......that is most of what i can think of .

yo please tell everybody you know in ea headquarters to ge-ge-get to making a skate 4, the franchise is currently in it's prime and you have you have the whole skate community backing you. Please, look at our ideas, mine, everybody who has commented, see what you can do. It's been three years ☹️ please don't dissapoint your loving fans of the great franchise
I have an idea for skate 4, every trick should have 15 or so derfferent preset styles. That way your tricks would not look the same everytime you do them. Also more empathsis on different ways the player rides and moves.
Really like the idea above along with my ideas which are
You should have a nice house that has 4 rooms
1) living room with a big flat screen to watch skate vids that you unlock as well as credits and any video recordings you saved etc. Also have on the side a magazine rack with all of the magazines you got on the front cover of to look at.
2) Trophy/medals room that holds all your trophies/medals you won from competitions.
3) Clothing room that holds all of the clothes the companies that you are sponsored by give you.
4) Skateboard room with all the boards bought to swap when needed as well as free boards/trucks/wheels from the companies you are sponsored by.
5) your backyard which is your very own highly customized skatepark built to your liking.
2)Boards should be able to break and when you do a pop up should show where it asks you to pick a new board from the board company your sponsored for which will have other boards you bought as well that you did not break OR buy a new board from the shop. IF you don't have enough money for a board and you haven't got a board sponsor yet, your filmer will loan you his board which is the stock EA Skate board that you will get in the beginning of the game. If you buy a board but your not using it you have to go to your house to get it and if it breaks you buy a new one unless you pick a free board from your sponsor.
3) Each skater should have their own tweaked physics of their own to be more realistic.
4)Much bigger world with more skateparks.
5)Train stations should return.
6)This is how the story mode should be. The objective of the game would be to become skater of the year and the way to do that would be to do competitions. First you would do some goals/local competitions/inside magazine photos then get on the cover of a skate mag. After that you will unlock maloof money cup. Beat that and you do more goals/local comps as well as you will unlock your first sponsor which is board and unlock first round of Battle at the berrics. Then after goals you do another mag cover which will unlock GVR competition. Beat that and the same thing, goals/comps/mag shoots as well as unlocking second sponsor which is trucks and second round of Battle at the berrics. After goals and the 2nd skate mag cover you will unlock due tour. Beat that and same thing as before with the edition of Wheel sponsor and 3rd round of Batb(Which is optional but fun to do and you get money after you win final round as well as another trophy for trophy room and free gear.) After goals and 3rd skate mag cover you unlock StreetLeage which is 3 stops. First stop you have to win then some goals, unlocking shoe sponsor and 4th round of BATB. Then unlocking 2nd stop of SreetLeague. Beat that then goals/shirt sponsor and 5th round of BATB. Then unlocking 3rd and final level of StreetLeague. Beat that and you win a watch, a pair of shoes and a ring which are all covered in diamonds as well as $50,000. Then you do some more goals and the final round of BATB as well as the 4th skate mag cover. Beat BATB and you win a trophy, some free gear and $10,000
Finish off the goals with a cover of a skate mag. (You also get money and free gear for the other comps as well just forgot to mention.)
Then you unlock the final competition which is X-Games. Beat that and you get $100,000, gear and trophy. You also get nominated for skater of the year (which gets you a medal) as well as a final insane trick at the X-Games you do for the cover of the latest skate mag.
6)If you get skater of the year 3 times in a row which means beating the game 3 times, you unlock some cool gear, more money and some other things which I have not thought of yet.
7)The competitions you unlock (not local comps) should have realistic narration. The local ones can be funny and stupid like they normally are.
The maloof money cup/due tour/GVR should be accessible while free roaming in open world since these are outdoor parks. SL/X-Games/BATB can still be accessible but via entering a building.
9)Keep create a park but update the pieces. Have a search button when searching for parks.
10)have the filmer talk to you like in the skate 1/2 but have an option to turn it off if wanted.
11)Customizable griptape.- U should have Christopher chann as a competer
Ive been playing skate 3 for way to long. Over the years i have thought of some great ideas that would make skate 4 better.
1. you should definitly be able to break your board, and when you do you should have to pay for a new one not just select a new one.
2. you should actually have sponsors like in skate 2 and the sponsors pay you
3. you shuld be able to select what type of skater you are, street or vert, and based of your style there would be compititions for that
4. the comcpetitions should be longer, you should get trophies and money from them.
5. more custumization, like add text to shirts, choose different grip tapes
6. you should have a house that has a private skatepark in the back
7. you should be able to do stalls and actually be able to skate a mini ramp
8. you should get awards presented by thrasher like, roockie of the year and skater of the year
9. you should be able to film videos for your sponsors
10. there should be more skaters like Paul Rodriguez, Aaron Jaws Homoki, Ryan Sheckler and many more.
11. weather, the time of day should change, there should be different weather like rain and sunshine, night and day
12. bring back trains
13. have some spots be real ones like El Toro, The LA Ditch, Hollywood High
14. idk if this is possible but whaterever time it is in real life that should be the tie in the game
Hey, a lot of those are good ideas. Although i'm two years late on replying, a lot of those things have been made in old skate games. For example, spots like El toro or Holly wood high being remade and added to the game, they did that in skate 3 with 3rd and Army and Brooklyn Banks. Instead they were called, 2nd and Navy and Bricklyn Banks.
