Unable to connect to skate online service

I have been having this problem for months intermittently, but for the last week or so I've been unable to connect at all.

I have tried the following:
Cleared system cache,
Deleted profile (without deleting saved games etc) and recovered it again,
Checked that I can log into my origin account with the same email as my gamer tag.
 
I'm using an Xbox 360 and a copy of skate 3 on disk (ive tried running it both from the disk and installed). I am running the game using a wired connection I know is good for connecting to xbox live.
 
Has anyone got any other ideas?
