I am not sure about the exact situation regarding your account but I will try to help you with this issue.

First of, you are right, your Gamertag has to be linked to your EA account.
This is automatically done, unless you have a different email address for your EA account and Gamertag:

how to link your ps3 account with your ea because it wont let me add another presona all it say is click the presona you want to add but there no options

airbornedesign I don't know where you are trying to add a persona, but first of all, please make sure the email address for your Gamertag/PSN/PSVita ID is the same as the one for your Origin account. If not you need to contact an EA Game Advisor.
