Abductions & Cutscenes not working

The Sims team says this happens because the other sims on the lot try to react to the abduction and can't, but I tried this with an old sim that lives alone and it didn't work.
The wolf here counts.
There mustn't be any other sim on the lot. That includes pets, ghosts, and invisible NPCs (sims being called, remote cars, penguins, flying birds, and robots).
So yeah, no other soul must be on the lot.
