Sims 2 legacy suddenly started lagging during gameplay?

I was played it fine a few months ago but i took a break and opened up the laptop again and starting playing like normal and its lagging, ive tried restarting and updating my laptop and still the same?

Anyone know what could be causing this if it was fine a few months ago?
