I did refund in the end.
They only give people 24 hours to get a full refund (fine print)... thankfully I applied the same night I purchased it.

if you have already played it once and now it wont lauch its a group cash file issue
C:\Users\Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 Legacy
find your group cash and change it to open as paint and click on advace and make it a read only!

yeah I know exactly why you shouldn´t wait around for theme to potieentally fix it, if they do you can allways rebuy if they don´t you are royally ........

That’s what I ended up doing and it worked for me! I’ll just play it in windowed mode for now then until they fix it.

What computer are you guys running on? I bought the game on the 14th and hasn't given me any issues since now. I purchased the birthday bundle. It was taking never to launch and then came here. I tried loading in Sims 1 but Sims 2 loaded in instead.... Still want to prevent in the future. I figured it was because my computer updated last night to Win 11. I have a Acer Nitro 5

I was able to successfully add the "-w" as instructed here in this thread (you need to do it in the EA app, not in your direct program files) However, I do want to say that it takes several (several!) minutes for the game to actually load. Whereas other Sims' games load instantly, Sims 2 is taking quite a bit of time for me. I also want to add that it wasn't like this on the first day of purchase. This is a recent issue.
