Because the files on your computer have nothing to do with whether your payment has been processed or not.
If the issue was with payment, the error wouldn't be about corruption.

I was just re-iterating what the EA agent told me, Barclays had a massive outage the last few days that were affecting payments being made so there was a possibility that the whole files weren’t downloaded due to the transaction not being complete. Payment had gone through now so, yes I’m still getting the issue so it’s an EA issue on their side

That's such an odd thing for the EA agent to say! I spoke to one and they said it was a known issue. For what it's worth, I don't bank with Barclays but I appreciate their logic.
I have posted my resolution which was to uninstall and log on my pc as an administrator and install from there. It then worked.
