    This issue was resolved in today's patch:

    • Addressed some situations related to the error “Some needed files were corrupted during the installation”

I found a solution that helped me so it might help you!!!

I tried downloading it on 2 other computers (shared ones at my house) to no avail. Same error. However, I downloaded it onto my main computer (where I am an admin and the only account) and I had no more error! Although, it had a resolution bug but that was fixed by going onto the EA launcher then advanced startup and typing -w for windowed mode. So it was the simplest fix for me that went right over my head. 

TLDR - Download it as an Administrator and add windowed mode option -w onto advanced startup in the game properties. 

I hope it helps bc i know how frustrating it was!!!

I was skeptical but tried to install it on the admin profile of my computer and lo and behold it worked immediately! I've not tried this with sims 1 yet but will play sims 2 now to see how far i get. Thank you for suggesting this fix.
