I played Sims 2 for awhile today and adopted Lulu, the black Lab. She's finicky, so I bought the most expensive food dish (which I always do anyway). I gave it one last shot and tried to Call To Eat...Lulu, but the interaction faded from her queue. There seems to be no fix for this dog; I tried resetting her, I tried resetting the food bowl, nothing; so I guess I'll just put her up for adoption, unless there's something else I can try. All answers appreciated.
I've once stumbled upon the same issue - including an unclickable food bowl - and I couldn't find a solution for it. I've also had a few Sims with similar issues, such as not having the interaction to clean plates. Super annoying indeed. :(
I suspect there might be a bug in the game coding perhaps?
Plates can get "stuck" and I think maybe that happens with food bowls?
To train a stray dog to eat you'll have to call them to eat (and make sure nothing interacts with them while they do) but sometimes strays have "eat human food" as a fully learned behavior, so you may need to either get a hack or use Boolprop TestingCheatsEnabled True and Boolprop ControlPets on to drag the "learned behavior" bar on that all the way down.
It couldn't be a stuck plate. It's just a couple specific Sims without the interaction available at all (doesn't appear in the menu) while others are able to clean it up just fine.
And the dog who didn't have the action to eat was a CAS-made, not a stray. So she came in my game with all behaviours on neutral.
So the issue's coming from somewhere else. :/
As suggested use the boolprop cheat to control the glitched pet to eat from a dog bowl. Also, in case someone doesn't know the bowls in this game can turn at a 45 degree angle on their own, so it may be they are turned the wrong way from time to time. And most important you can't call a dog or cat to come to eat their food if you have not taught them to sit or stay etc. It won't be available unless you completed one of those commands, but I can't remeber which one.
