Is anyone else's Sims's 2 still crashing and not able to play the game STILL????

Mine is still crashing/terminating after I select a family I want to play. It’s extremely frustrating.
I haven't been able to get The Sims 2 Legacy to open since the most recent game update. I've uninstalled and reinstalled. Removed all old files. Nothing works!
BTW - it was running fine for me prior to the update (so I have no issues with system requirements).
