Throubleshooting The Sims 2 (The Sims 25th birthday bundle)

I have, as many other “The Sims player” bought “The Sims 25th birthday bundle” with the games The Sims 1 and The Sims 2. The loadingtime while traveling in The Sims 2 is over 5 minutes so it´s totally unplayable. I got these instructions from a EA support that might be helpful to anyone else with the same issue as I have. Lower down there will be tips for if the game is shutting down all the time while playing.

Tips for Long loadingtime:

Compatibility Mode:

  1. Right-click on the game executable file,
  2. Select Properties, and go to the Compatibility tab.
  3. Check "Run this program in compatibility mode for" an older Windows version (e.g., Windows XP).

Run as Administrator:
Right-click on the game executable and select "Run as administrator."

Patch the Game:
Ensure you have the latest patches for The Sims 1. (Patches can be downloaded from trusted fan sites or the official EA website.)

Graphics Settings:
Lower the graphics settings in the game to reduce the strain on your system.

Check for Mods:
If you're using mods, try removing them to see if the game runs more stably without them.

Update Graphics Drivers:
Ensure your graphics drivers are up to date.

The tips below is when the game (for me it was The sims 1) is shutting down after a few minutes. If you have that problem, check below.

There are a few troubleshooting steps which can help you with the problem: https://support.microsoft.com/windows/fix-network-connection-issues-in-windows-166a28c4-14c1-bdb1-473c-09c1571455d8

I would suggest you to visit the link below and clear the cache of your EA app and then restart the PC to save the changes.
Here are the steps to clear EA app cache:
https://help.ea.com/en/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/

After that you will need to perform clean installation of graphic drivers (even if the drivers are updated) on your PC:
https://help.ea.com/en/help/pc/pc-graphics-troubleshooting/

You can try launching the game and it should be fixed.

If the issue still persist then I would suggest you to visit the link below and perform clean boot on your PC as advised here to disable any background task which are conflicting with the game files.
Here's how to perform clean boot:
https://help.ea.com/en/help/faq/how-to-clean-boot-your-pc/

Once done then repair game files on EA before relaunching the game again as suggested below:

  1. Open the EA app and go to your Library
  2. Find the game you want to repair
  3. Select the three-dot menu in the top right-hand corner of the game tile
  4. Choose Repair
  5. When the game finishes repairing, try launching it again

I hope this helps!
Happy Simers!
